"The Star" is an 1897 apocalyptic short story by H.G. Wells. "This is a history and not a glorification of Mr. Polly, and I tell of things as they were with him.” So writes H.G Wells toward the end of his story of Mr. Polly, and indeed, the narrator’s voice throughout the book leaves us altogether ambivalent about his protagonist. The diminutive Everyman of the story is neither fully hero nor villain.

The Invisible Man (1897) is one of the most famous science fiction novels of all time. Written by H.G. The War of the Worlds is a science fiction novel by English author H. G. Wells. It was written between 1895 and 1897.
