In Goethes Weltanschauung fasste Steiner die Ergebnisse seiner von 1883 bis 1897 sich erstreckenden Studien über Wesen und Bedeutung der naturwissenschaftlichen Schriften Goethes in einer bündigen und zugänglichen Weise zusammen. Steiner sah in Goethe einen wichtigen Vordenker, der in seiner Morphologie als erster eine dem Organischen angemessene Wissenschaftsmethode und damit die theoretischen Grundlagen seiner eigenen Anthroposophie entwickelt hatte.

Non ebbero mai veste scritta: sono la trascrizione di una serie di conferenze; nel 1908 per il Vangelo di Giovanni, nel 1909 per Luca, nel 1910 per Matteo e nel 1912 per Marco. Grazie alla vedova Steiner e alla traduttrice Emmelina de Renzis questi scritti furono pubblicati nel 1930.

The present book, Mysticism at the Dawn of the Modern Age, is a fruit of Steiner's lecturing activity. The substance of it was contained in a series of lectures he gave in Berlin beginning just after Michaelmas in 1900, when he was thirty-nine. Steiner wrote later, “By means of the ideas of the mystics from Meister Eckhart to Jacob Boehme, I found expression for the spiritual perceptions which, in reality, I decided to set forth. I then summarized the series of lectures in the book, Mysticism at the Dawn of the Modern Age.”

During the fall and winter of 1901–02, Steiner gave a series of lectures called “Christianity as Mystical Fact” to members of the Theosophical Society. The lectures were rewritten and issued as a book later that year. They mark a watershed in the development of Western esotericism.

In Mystics of the Renaissance, Rudolf Steiner examines the thought of 11 European mystics (Eckhart, Tauler, Suso, Ruysbroek, Nicholas of Cusa, Agrippa von Nettesheim, Paracelsus, Weigel, Boehme, Giordano Bruno, and Angelus Silesius) through a collection of essays and explains their ideas and how they relate to modern Concepts.

Ha detto Steiner, nella sua autobiografia, che ciò che ha scritto nei volumi da lui pubblicati è stato certamente pensato ed elaborato a lungo prima di essere dato alle stampe, mentre quello che deriva dalla trascrizione delle conferenze riguarda sia il suo pensiero che le esigenze del pubblico presente, e quindi è frutto di una interazione, e potrebbe modificarsi a seconda della differenza di pubblico.

In questo audiolibro si vuol dare una descrizione di alcune parti del mondo soprasensibile. Chi voglia ammettere soltanto quello sensibile, riterrà tale descrizione un vacuo prodotto della fantasia. Ma chi voglia cercar le vie che conducono fuori del mondo dei sensi, arriverà presto a comprendere che la vita umana acquista valore e significato soltanto se si penetri con lo sguardo in un altro mondo. Questa penetrazione non distoglie l'uomo, come molti temono, dalla vita "reale". Poiché solo per tale via egli impara a star saldo e sicuro nella vita.
