When you've got nothing left, why not risk it all? They say life in the Coalition is idyllic, utopian. Tell that to Caspian Robeaux, who was tried, convicted, and thrown in prison. When an early chance for parole comes up, it seems his luck may have changed, though something isn't quite right about where they're sending him. And he might just have to take the biggest chance of his life if he wants to survive.

On the edge of known space, something disturbing is amassing. Reports from the Sovereign Coalition’s largest telescopes show a swarm of ships thousands of light-years away. The threat is real, and it looks like it’s headed for the inner Coalition planets. The people of the Coalition have little more than a year if they’re lucky. While the Admiralty scrambles to come up with a solution, there is one person who might be able to help: Caspian Robeaux.

He needs a payday. He’ll settle for payback. Betrayed and left to rot on the edges of the galaxy, Caspian Robeaux is deep in debt and stuck flying courier missions in an old rustbucket he can barely keep afloat. Things start to look up, though, when a stranger arrives and offers a lucrative job that Cas can’t refuse, with a payday big enough to change his fortunes permanently. His luck gets even better when Cas learns that the job might offer him the one thing he wants more than his next drink: A chance to clear his name. 

It was just supposed to be one job. But once the Coalition has you, they never let go.... Caspian Robeaux thought his troubles were over when he disrupted the Coalition’s plans and the person who had betrayed him found himself behind bars. But life is rarely so simple. Now the Coalition has a new mission for him, one that takes him right back into the heart of the enemy who helped cost him his freedom. The question is, can he step up to the challenge, or will his past continue to determine his future?

Having survived his encounter with the mysterious Sil race, Caspian and the crew of the USCS Tempest receive a new assignment: investigate the threat emerging far beyond the Coalition’s borders. With its advanced engines, Tempest is the only ship fast enough to reach whatever is out there before they cross into Coalition territory.

Distraught over the loss of his crewmates, Caspian Robeaux no longer believes he can pretend to be part of the crew of the USCS Tempest. He has to face the fact he’s become an outsider and that’s who he’ll always be. He has no place on a Coalition starship anymore. But the mission must continue and until it’s complete, he’s stuck on board. Will he find a way to cope, or will the ghosts of his mistakes drive him mad first?

The crew of the USCS Tempest may have escaped near-death near the Excel Nebula, but their journey is just beginning. As Caspian tries to find his place among the crew on their journey to unknown space, Evie is haunted by ghosts of her past. Both of them will have to work together if they want to find out what's going on with the threat known only as Andromeda. The entire crew will be tested as Andromeda pulls them to the brink of destruction, and it will be up to Cas and Evie to keep them from plunging over the edge.  

Having barely survived their encounter with the mysterious race known only as Andromeda, the crew of the USCS Tempest now must find a way to repair the ship if they ever want to get back to the Coalition to warn them of what’s coming. Their comms are down, their engines are shot and unless the god Kor himself makes an appearance, they’ll have to rely on local help if they want a way out of this mess. But finding friendly species in an uncharted region of space is easier said than done. 

The crew of the USCS Tempest has faced many hardships, but none so dire as crashing on a planet with no way to contact their ship. Now with no power, no resources, and no idea how to get back, they’ll have to find a way to survive on this strange, untamed world. But not all is as it seems. This planet hides some dark secrets, such as why does the sun never seem to set? Or why, despite a lush environment, are there no other species here? 

Evelyn Diazal, once a respected commander and former captain of the ship, learns her past is even more mysterious than she could have ever imagined. A trip back to her home planet reveals long-lost connections and ignites a new conflict with former allies. The crew of the Tempest begins to learn just how much damage the Athru have done as they search for a way to save the human race.

Upon returning from the alien planet, the remaining crew of the USCS Tempest never could have anticipated this: Their ship is in impeccable condition, almost like it never left space dock. Due to a unique distortion in the planet’s atmosphere, Cas, Evie, and the rest of the crew who visited the planet missed the last 18 years of history. But just because those who stayed aboard had time to repair the ship, doesn’t mean all is good. The truth of what happened in those 18 years may be more than any of them are ready to handle.

The coalition has been decimated. While humanity teeters on the edge of survival, the crew of the USCS Tempest may be their only hope. But things may have just gone from bad to worse. Upon arriving back at the planet she grew up on, Evie discovers a secret that throws everything she’s known about herself into question. A lone Athru greets her there, revealing a special connection to Evie and offers to help defeat her own people. But to Cas, this sounds like just another Athru trick to try and eliminate the last of humanity.

Battle lines have been drawn, and forces have been gathered. But are Cas, Evie, and the rest of the crew of the USCS Tempest ready to engage the deadliest enemy they’ve ever had to face? The Athru came into Coalition space, wiped out humanity, and disassembled the once-great galactic empire piece by piece. But why? What lies behind this obsessive need to destroy humanity?
