As the Civil War rages, 15-year-old Thomas Beck longs to fight for his country. He's underage, but his brother, Robert, claims there's another reason he can't fight: There's no such thing as a Chinese Yankee. No es tan solo el hecho de que los chinos, tras siglos de guerras, llegaron a un conocimiento profundo de la estrategia y sus circunstancias, sino la forma en que plasmaron ese conocimiento. Allá donde los manuales occidentales se centraban en las siempre cambiantes armas y tácticas, los autores orientales buscaron una visión más universal de este tema y, al mismo tiempo, más humana.
