Alison Blackmore is a writer, poet, and painter born in South Africa and raised on a farm in rural Zimbabwe. Poetry, painting and writing have been lifelong passions. Decades of a global nomadic existence have deepened her understanding and enriched her view of the world and it’s cultures. Alison has won awards for her art, poetry and prose since childhood, including a research project on indigenous trees of Southern Africa, and their uses. Her plein air paintings have been exhibited in San Francisco, her first book published in London, her newsletters distributed across continents and her magazine articles printed in Hawaiian periodicals since arriving there in 2003. Alison has worked professionally in differing capacities, ranging from high fashion modelling to high stakes real estate, to ‘support her habit’ for travel and exploration. She has consistently documented her journey along the way, with the benefit of a painter’s eye, a poet’s heart, and a writer’s gift for storytelling. She lives on the Big Island, Hawai'i, with her greyhound, Bindi. Her books are available on Amazon, Kindle and Audible.
