Annalisa Ewald began playing guitar in Wash., D.C., then the mecca of the classical guitar world, where a world-class teacher invited her to study with him. She trained at San Francisco Conservatory, has a degree in guitar from Bard College, and was mentored by Juilliard's globally recognized authority on Early Music. She launched the Cosmos Club Concerts in Wash., D.C., garnered many grants from the N.Y. State Council on the Arts, and won the No. 8 spot on Billboard's Classical chart with her solo album. Jazz critics hailed it as "the first dirty classical guitar album," a distinction she is proud of. Her Argentine tango transcriptions are pending release by her independent music company. She is a frequent festival soloist and the founder of Circe's Consort, a band exploring music on baroque instruments. She enjoys teaching guitar, reaching audiences with live performances, and now, sharing books on music to invite the reader into a new universe of sound. She lives in Santa Fe, NM.
