Arna Bontemps Hemenway is the author of Elegy on Kinderklavier (Sarabande 2014), which was named a Barnes and Noble Discover Great New Writers pick for Summer 2014. His fiction has appeared in A Public Space, Alaska Quarterly Review, Ecotone, FiveChapters, The Missouri Review, The Seattle Review, Meridian Literary Review, Bat City Review, They Magazine, and Epilogue Magazine , and has been named an Other Notable Story of the Year in both the Best American Short Stories and Best American Nonrequired Reading Anthologies. He's been the recipient of scholarships or fellowships in fiction writing from the Truman Capote Literary Trust, the Iowa Writers' Workshop, the Taos Writers' Conference, the Sewanee Writers' Conference, and the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference. He received a B.A. from the University of Iowa, a Certificate in Modern Hebrew from the University of Haifa, Israel, and an M.F.A. from the Iowa Writers' Workshop. He is an Assistant Professor of English in Creative Writing at Baylor University. Hemenway lives in Waco, Texas, with his wife, Marissa, daughter, Bluma, and son, Maccabee. He enjoys reading, writing, sports, exercise, video games, and cake.
