Azma studied English, Classics and History of Art, before turning to writing. As well as novels, she has written for the stage, radio and screen. Her plays include Chaos, Paper Thin and Noor, based on the real life story of WW2 wireless operator Noor Inayat Khan. She has won the New Writing Ventures Award for Fiction as well as the New Perspectives Long Play Award. Her first novel, The Secret Arts, is a mystery about a newly married woman who suspects her husband may have killed his first wife. Set in the snowy, misty hill town of Muree in Pakistan, it's laced with superstition, black magic and murder. Spider, to be published in April 2023, tells the story of Sophie, an aspiring British Pakistani actress from Bradford, who's finally found happiness with her third husband. But then he suddenly disappears without trace. Is Sophie responsible or might one of her ex- husbands have something to do with it? Originally from London, Azma now lives in Northamptonshire.
