Barbara Henderson has lived in Scotland since 1991, somehow acquiring an MA in English Language and Literature, a husband, three children and a shaggy dog along the way. Having tried her hand at working as a puppeteer, relief librarian and receptionist, she now teaches Drama part-time at secondary school. Writing predominantly for children, Barbara is the author of the following Middle Grade novels: 1. Highland Clearances novel Fir for Luck 2. The Crystal-Kite-shortlisted Punch 3. Eco-thriller Wilderness Wars 4. Robert Burns themed smuggling novella Black Water 5. Medieval adventure The Siege of Caerlaverock (Winner of the Young Quills Award 2021) 6. Viking adventure The Chessmen Thief (Winner of the Young Quills Award 2022) 7. Jacobite adventure The Reluctant Rebel 8. Rivet Boy about a young Victorian breadwinner employed on the construction site of the iconic Forth Bridge 9. The Boy, the Witch and the Queen of Scots, set during Mary Queen of Scots' reign 10. Contemporary eco-thriller I Don't Do Mountains. Her titles for adults to date include the immigration memoir Scottish by Inclination and Made from Girders, a look behind the scenes at the Forth Bridge for which Barbara has been Writer-in-Residence. Barbara lives in Inverness in the Scottish Highlands.
