Bob Ryan has been a professional musician since age 14. As a singer and songwriter, he has performed in cafes, clubs and festivals across the globe, and released a series of commercially available albums such as The Spirit of Andy Devine, and Slow Healers.
Bob worked for more than 40 years in the field of Marketing Communications as a designer, illustrator and copywriter. During that time, he also acted, directed, and either wrote or co-wrote approximately 25 original stage plays including The Trouble with Death, A Prison in the Heart, Sharkey’s Big Night Out and Midday Modesto.
In writing fiction, Bob seeks to combine elements of all these—the poetry of the songwriter, the economy of the commercial copywriter and the characters and dialogue of the playwright. His storytelling is marked by a strong sense of setting and place, sifted together with a love of humor and the influence of American writers such as Richard Brautigan, Mark Twain, John Steinbeck and Flannery O’Connor.
He currently resides in Arizona with his wife, Helen.
