Dr. Candace (Candy) Campbell, DNP, RN, CNL, CEP, LNC, FNAP, was born in Portland, Oregon and now lives in the DC area. Dr Campbell is an international speaker, award-winning actor, author, and filmmaker (Micropremature Babies: How Low Can You Go?)... and nurse. Besides a series of children's books (sidebar), her projects include three solo shows, a series on applied improvisation for businesses, a film script about a military nurse who unwillingly serves in Vietnam, and the book that answers 21st c. questions from that Victorian icon's point of view, "Channeling Florence Nightingale: Integrity, Insight, Innovation." An internationally recognized speaker and facilitator, Dr. Campbell draws from her experience as co-founder of an improv and standup comedy troupe in the San Francisco area. She has taught improv to all ages and stages, since 1995. Her interactive team building and leadership workshops, featuring improvisational exercises from the arts, are based on her doctoral work and research with clinical professionals at Stanford's Lucille Packard Children's Hospital. Candy facilitates enhanced communication and team collaboration in the healthcare industry using her book, "Improv to Improve Healthcare," as the workbook for the use of applied improvisational exercises.The second book in the improv series is, "Improv to Improve Your Leadership Team."
