I was assigned to defend an Airman in a court-martial case while in the Air Force and stationed in Japan. When I returned home, I went directly to LSU law school. The fervor of the courtroom was a lift into the wild blue yonder as much as flying spy missions over Russia had once been. One never knows how a trial will go. I wanted readers to get an inside look at a lawyer's life. Jack takes Connor's case as an act of loyalty to a childhood friend, but he is unaware that Scot, Connor's eleven year old boy, will turn his life upside down. A new world opens up as he searches for a way to save Connor and Jack's own personal life comes under fire. The trial is covered by national TV, which he never expected could happen. My clients certainly had an affect on my life, and I reflect that in Jack's story. I hope you enjoy Jack's gamble as he tries what appears to be an impossible case. The yellow Mustang is real. I loved that car and gave it to Jack for a reason. Jack also likes George Strait. I do too. But his story is fictional. I used "Between the Moon and New York City" as a background theme for Jack's story and "Sailing" (Chris Cross's other great song) also fit Jack's personality--he has a sailboat. I admit a love of adventure is part of my love for stories... and writing. authorcarlroberts.com
