Colin Joseph Galtrey 1957 - Present Thank you for taking the time to visit the bookshelf of best-selling Peak District author Colin J Galtrey. Whilst spending time traveling for work around the world, for Colin there were many unglamorous hours spent in hotel rooms and airport waiting lounges, yet provided the perfect opportunity to release a passion for writing that had been stifled for many years. Colin’s journey into his unique style of storytelling officially began in August 2015, with the publication of his first crime thriller “Things Will Never Be the Same Again”. The first book of series one – of which there are five instalments, heralded the introduction of fictional Peak District Detective John Gammon as a new name into rural crime fighting and police investigation. With a very distinct writing style, from the outset, each narrative of the John Gammon detective series places you inside the nuances of daily life in the social and professional circles of the main protagonist. Alongside the underlying crime plot in each novel, the detailed menu choices for Gammon when dining out, the drives he takes in such a scenic setting and the friends he surrounds himself with all combine for unique and very addictive storytelling. Currently, there are 4 completed series featuring John Gammon Peak District Detective, all of which contain five books. Many authors and readers have quite rightly commented on how prolific Colin is with his writing, which is proven through an Amazon bookshelf featuring 49 books published in just over 7 years. Alongside the 27 books featuring John Gammon, Colin has spanned a range of subject matter including a wartime love story with “Let’s Dance In The Kitchen” (which went into Amazon’s top 50 of its genre), the spiritual world with the trilogy of “Looking for Shona”, “The Hurt of Yochana” and “Grove”, and also the 2-part series “Calming Farm” and “I am Fawn Jones”. The IRA was an underlying presence in “Scarab Falls”, whilst time travel was the subject of “The Stanton Incident”. The stand-alone thrillers of “Innocence and Guilt”, “Rose Petals From Russia” and “The Stunner Series” and Five Knocks on a Door. Colin has now published two Children's books " Ella Evie and Mr Snowflake" and Anastacia the Fairy, Oscar the dog and Jessica complete the author’s catalogue so far. Throughout the many genres and novels, the characters and places Colin’s books feature owe much to a life spent observing and enjoying the richness of subject matter in the place he calls home. Colin was born in Darley Dale, a small village nestled in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District and most unsubtly recognisable throughout the John Gammon novels. Colin has four beautiful children and knows he is so very lucky to live in the area which has inspired him to write, as he explains “Although I must stress my work is purely fictitious and does not represent or imply anything other than my imagination if you live/work in the Peak District or regularly enjoy visiting the area you will undoubtedly recognise some of the areas spoken about in the books.” Since writing this all my books are on Amazon in Audio format through Amazon.com and I Player. New interest was generated in America by Barnes and Noble who now stock six of his books and all his catalogue in E Format. This was quickly followed by Waterrstones who also have six of my books for sale, Further information can be found at www.colingaltrey.co.uk and please follow Colin on Instagram @thepeakdistrictauthor Facebook: Colin J Galtrey (Author) and You Tube Colin J Galtrey.
