David Hale Smith grew up in Dallas, Texas. He has lived there most of his life except for the four years he spent attending Kenyon College as an English major. He started a literary agency in 1994. He represents some of the most beloved authors in contemporary crime and noir fiction. His clients have won multiple Edgar Allen Poe Awards from the Mystery Writers of America, as well as the International Thriller Writers, Anthony, Agatha, Barry, Eisner, Shamus, and Bram Stoker Awards.
