Derek Ruskin is a retired old git with many interests including carpentry (Harry Potter wand making for grandchildren is a speciality), jazz piano, classical chamber music, choral music and backgammon. Other than that, he is not that unusual but managed to retire early and started to research the history of philosophy, religion and politics. Brought up as a gentle Methodist he realised at age 13 that religion was a manmade means of political control. Much later he was able to lose his belief in any sort of God and became a happy secular atheist. He is dismayed at the quality of government decision making and finds it difficult to understand the blunders that ministers continue to make. This dismay prompted him to start writing his first book 13 years ago. The Audible version version of 'The Normal Curve' will be ready in a few days. He writes a blog here: - https/www.ruskinweb.co.uk/blog He enjoys making fun of politicians pointing out their many errors and exploring the vagaries of religion
