I’ve had a variety of interesting positions and experiences that inform my writing. These include research manager in the federal government where I served as a Senior Executive and Acting Director of Homeland Security for the Agricultural Research Service of USDA; university professor; U.S. Naval officer and deep-sea salvage diver; seaweed farmer in the southern Philippines; and co-leader of an expedition that discovered and recovered remains of a 17th century Spanish Manila galleon. From 2009-2020 I was an adjunct professor at Georgetown University’s School of Medicine, where I taught a graduate course on biological threats to food and agriculture. I hold a PhD in biological oceanography. I especially enjoy writing science-based fiction and non-fiction with a goal of encouraging non-scientists to better appreciate and understand science. My debut novel, CONTAINMENT, published in 2017, foreshadowed the current pandemic. For more information, please visit my web site at: http://hankparkerauthor.com/
