Hu Yuan Nabe, the play on Chinese and Japanese words, begs the question, “Who you want to be?” The writer behind White Tiger Legend is an artist of many talents. He's an accomplished Hollywood Visual Effects artist; having worked on films such as Avatar, Return of the King, Star Wars, the Hobbit, and the Matrix Sequels. He's also a Bok Fu Black belt. The external masters system combines Shotokan Karate, Kenpo, and Five Animal styles of Kung Fu: Tiger, Crane, Snake, Panther, and Dragon. The system begins with hard Japanese movements and flows into Chinese Kung Fu. The knowledge gained in years of intense training are reflected in these pages. His further studies in Wudang, Tibet, and with native shaman of the Amazon rainforest cemented the internal understandings. Although White Tiger Legend is a work of fiction, Zi's journey is very much grounded in reality. The trials of the medallion were crafted from the impossible journey to the Black Belt. The knowledge of chi and internal martial arts practice were acquired at Wudang Mountains and through acupuncture. The extraordinary wisdom imparted by Quan Yin was received in the depths of the Amazon jungle. Divine knowledge is universal and transcendent of all cultures, practices, and times. The diets and insights into lifeforce have been known by Chinese folk healers for centuries, but lost by modern industrialization. Lifeforce is very real. The Shaolin Temple has also burned numerous times throughout history. The most famous burning was during the Qing dynasty. White Tiger Legend takes place 400 years prior – during a Song dynasty burning. It is also the time of the Jin-Song wars. This is not a strict account of historical events however. It is a work of fiction designed to guide readers on a journey of martial arts mastery – revealing universal wisdom and its deepest teachings in the process.
