Jack majored in Math in college but minored in Journalism so he could 'BS' with the best of them. His early working career included stints as a reporter and editor for a local newspaper and a monthly business magazine where space limitations required him to write concisely. That accounts for his miserly word counts and preference for short dissertations, short stories and novelette formats. He was nine years old when his uncle took him to see ‘The Blob’. He was hooked. From then on, he collected horror magazines while other kids collected comic books. He had every monster model on the toy store shelves. Poe, Hitchcock, Serling and Karloff became his heroes. When ‘Outer Limits’ and ‘One Step Beyond’ hit the airwaves he became increasingly mesmerized by tales of supernatural origin. His fiction reflects that fascination. His non-fiction reflects an inherent interest in resolving the "Mysteries of the Universe". Circa 1969 he discovered a perspective that went against the conventional wisdom and he became disenchanted with the Physics curriculum he had selected as a double major. Too many of the contemporary theories were contrary to logic...flew in the face of simple common sense. Fiction or non-fiction, a pervasive sense of humor permeates the contents of his works.
