Janice Zarro Brodman grew up in a diverse city where she learned early that variety is way more interesting and enjoyable than homogeneity. She never traveled more than a couple of hundred miles from home until her first “real” trip, going overland from Greece to India (thank you, Harvard University). Afterwards, she worked for a non-profit organization in international development, focusing on helping small businesses and on ending violence against women and girls. Since then, her travels have taken her to over 30 countries in Africa, Asia and South East Europe Janice loves technology (when it works), great food and wine, and poking at the bears of intolerance and injustice. In her travels, she has met amazing people who lacked education, decent work, and even life’s basics because they aren’t the “right” gender, class, race, religion or whatever. She has tried in some small way to expand opportunities for those folks. She continues to believe that both connection and diversity are essential to health, whether of the individual and a country. "Sex Rules!: Astonishing Sexual Practices and Gender Roles Around the World" aims to entertain, but also show that people have incredibly different views, even about that most basic urge, sexuality. There is never only one “right” way.
