The question I ask most often is 'I wonder what would happen if ...?' Like most 3- and 4-year-olds I started asking questions, but I never stopped. Questioning led me to become a zoologist originally, but also into art and eventually into faith and becoming a priest in the Anglican Church. I have four grown up children and love it when we all get together with their families and talk about anything and everything. After my first husband died suddenly (just before I was ordained) I found that writing poems was the way in which I tried to make sense of what had happened, as well as painting my thoughts. Having once started writing poetry I haven't stopped ... in fact I once woke up thinking 'A poem is what you find between a metaphor and its subject.' When writing poems I find that I can use words in the best order and mixture to express my thoughts in a way I can't do when writing prose. My grief poems have been used for some years by people helping those who are grieving, so I eventually published them in the book 'The Howl Within.' hoping that others might find them helpful. I am working on a second volume which will be called 'Wrestling With God in Grief.' I am hoping to publish further illustrated books of my other poems.
