John Aitchison is a British wildlife filmmaker. For twenty years he has worked on many productions for the BBC natural History Unit as well as filming for National Geographic, PBS and Discovery Channel. His credits include: The Hunt, Frozen Planet, Life, Life Story, Yellowstone, South Pacific, Wild China, Hebrides, Big Cat Diary and Big Cat Live, Ganges, The Natural World and Springwatch. As a result of his work as part of the teams making these programmes he has been awarded Primetime Emmys and BAFTAs for cinematography. He produced and was part of the camera team for The Amber Time Machine, a programme about what amber and the many fossils it contains can tell us about the past, presented by Sir David Attenborough. John also writes and records programmes about filming and conservation for BBC Radio 4. John lives in Scotland. The Shark and The Albatross is his first book.
