Julie Murphy’s first real job was teaching English as a foreign language in a Japanese Women’s Junior College and High School in Nagasaki, Japan. While there, with a pack on her back for her toothbrush, she and a friend toured India and visited Mother Teresa’s compound in Calcutta. She met her Irish husband in Japan, a seagoing engineer on oil tankers. Her first trip at sea with him began in Germany, through the Panama Canal to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. She lived in Ireland for three years, and so began her material for romance writing. She was born the granddaughter of Spanish Basque immigrants. Her second year of college took place in Spain, in Oñate, where used her bad, high school Spanish with masses of relatives she had no idea she had. When her husband got into toxic-waste cleanup, she moved often and that’s when insanity hit, and she became a professional substitute teacher grades kindergarten through high school. If she could survive an Amtrak train wreck on the way back home from traveling on the Siberian Express through Russia, she figured she could survive anything. She has a M.A. in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University and a certificate in short story writing from LongRidgeWritersGroup®. Check out her books: - Western Knight - Flipping Rich Bastards which was voted 1st place, 3rd, and 4th by judges in the Helen McCloy/Mystery Writers of America Scholarship for Mystery Writing; - As if Something Happened (YA)
