Justin Owen Rawlins is Associate Professor of Media Studies and Film Studies at the University of Tulsa, where he teaches courses on screen histories, film theory and criticism, media culture and power, stardom and celebrity, and genre. He is the Faculty Advisor and Executive Producer of the TUTV Media Lab, a student-centered media production collaborative. He earned a dual PhD in Communication and Culture and American Studies at Indiana University Bloomington. His research explores film and television performance and identity, stardom and celebrity, audiences and reception, screen representations of race and gender, prestige television, and media from/about the U.S. and Canadian "Arctic." His work has been published in Celebrity Studies, FLOW, Journal of Film and Video, Media Industries, Quarterly Review of Film and Video, and The Velvet Light Trap.
