Dr. Laurie Becvar is an accomplished leader with decades of experience in higher education, nonprofit administration, and strategic organizational development. She is the Chief Executive Officer of the South Dakota Hall of Fame, a statewide public charity with a Visitor and Education Center in Chamberlain, South Dakota. Previously, she held the role of President and Chief Operating Officer of Crazy Horse Memorial, an internationally recognized nonprofit located in the Black Hills. Dr. Becvar’s career includes significant contributions to higher education. She served as the Chief Academic Officer at two private, nonprofit colleges in South Dakota and as Dean of the Graduate School and Division of Continuing and Distance Education at the University of South Dakota. Her experience also extends to workforce development, directing the Business and Industry Institute at Butler County Community College in Kansas. A seasoned executive, Dr. Becvar’s expertise lies in leading innovative programs, combining business and education, managing organizational change, and strategic planning. Her academic credentials include a doctorate and master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of South Dakota and a bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University. In addition to her professional roles, Dr. Becvar is an active contributor to boards and committees and offers consulting services to educational institutions across the U.S. She is also the author of *Ren’s Journey Home*, a book based on the true story of her beloved cat, Ren. Dr. Becvar and her husband, Mike, reside in the Black Hills, where they have operated small businesses and participated in farming and ranching. She continues to combine her passions for education, leadership, and community service in all her endeavors.
