Marco Haurélio, writer, and folklorist, was born in Ponta da Serra, a town in the rural area of the municipality of Riacho de Santana, in the interior of Bahia, Brazil. There, he was able to live with traditional stories from an early age, told by his grandmother Luzia Josefina, and with the poetry of authors such as Castro Alves, Cecília Meireles, Vinicius de Moraes and Leandro Gomes de Barros. He is dedicated to collecting and cataloging popular poetry and stories, intangible heritage of the Brazilian people. In 2017 he was a finalist for the Jabuti award with the children's book Cordéis de Arrepiar: Europa (IMEPH) and, in 2016 and 2018, he was curator of Espaço do Cordel and Repente, at the São Paulo International Book Biennial. In 2018, invited by the Institute for Heritage, from Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, he participated in the International Forum Narrator.
