Growing up on Staten Island New York I remember how simple life was. There were still some local small fruit farms scattered around. Our first residence was not far from the ocean where I often found myself writing stories about the boats docked or the cargo ships passing by. There was an old woman down the block who often sat on a rocking chair in her front porch. She would invite me in to listen to her stories of the history of Staten Island. I would go home and write a little about what she explained. From there I would watch the squirrels and birds and write about them. As time moved on, I married and became busy raising my children. Finally, as they became adults, I was able to study at the local college. It was then that I joined poetry sites and began publishing my poems. My imagination grew while writing poems and evolved into my first novel.
