As an Air Training Corps cadet in the 1980s, Paul Bingley was introduced to a man called 'Bob Stanford Tuck'. The young cadet had no idea who the 'old bloke' was, but smiled and shook his hand. He then forgot about their meeting. Forty-odd years later, Paul Bingley is still kicking himself. Students of aviation history would do well to learn from a man who didn't know a legendary Battle of Britain pilot when he saw one. Sentenced to learn a valuable lesson, Paul Bingley has stumbled on Essex's only long-term heavy bomber base, and tripped over the county's many aviation memorials ever since. An aviation worker for the past 30 years, he most recently helped market the world’s heaviest aircraft, the Antonov AN-225 'Mriya'. In his spare time, he regularly delivers talks on the history of Ridgewell Airfield and its long-term tenants, the 381st Bomb Group. Paul Bingley’s love of aviation and the written word can be found in these books.
