Mr. Geschke was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Kent State University in 1969 with a degree in Comprehensive Social Studies in the College of Education. Upon his graduation he was commissioned a second lieutenant from the ROTC program. He served from 1969 to 1972 in the infantry in Germany, Panama and Vietnam. Upon return to civilian life he taught one year at the secondary level and turned to the automotive business in which he still is employed. Mr. Geschke has been published with letters to the editor The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Washington Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Christian Science Monitor and the Hartford Courant. He has also been published with op-ed pieces in the Bristol Observer as well. Mr. Geschke with longtime army buddy Robert A. Toto co-authored their army memoirs titled In Our Duffel Bags, Surviving the Vietnam Era. Their book was awarded a 2012 silver medal by the MWSA in the memoir category. Mr. Toto and Mr. Geschke are currently introducing on a poetic follow up of In Our Duffel Bags which is titled Shadows of Combat, Poetry about the Vietnam Era. The publication date was August 1, 2013. He currently resides with his wife in Bristol, Ct.
