Sandy Griffiths was born in the heart of the coal mining and cotton mill region of the industrial northwest of Lancashire. She trained to be a teacher and specialised in teaching children with Specific Learning Difficulties. She took advantage of the long school holidays and travelled extensively - her most memorable adventures being in Tibet and Kashmir. She lived in Italy for eight years before moving to Cornwall, where she now lives with her husband on the beautiful, rugged north coast.
