Suzanne Rayfield Chilton McKenzie graduated from Eminence High School with ancestral roots grown deep into Missouri soil. She attended Missouri State University and graduated Illinois State University in Mathematics, and then earned a Masters in Information Management from Washington University School of Engineering. She lived in Illinois, Tennessee, Missouri, and Florida. In 2004, after long careers in technical fields, she retired back to Shannon County to a high ridge overlooking the land of her ancestors--now the home of Ozark National Scenic Riverways. She decided to turn family memoirs, letters, genealogy, and official records into a novel as a fundraiser at the local Museums. Her late husband Danny Lee Chilton served as co-author of her first book, "BLUE & GRAY CROSS CURRENT, a memoir of love and revenge". Voice actor, Kevin Crow, prepared the audio book on Audible. She now lives in Florida with husband Roderick (Rick) W. McKenzie, a published poet. "SILKEN HEMS, from plantation to frontier" is the working title of her current historical fiction novel, the life of her 3rd great-grandmother, Celia Johnson Fancher, 1795-1860.
