Taymour Soomro was born in Lahore, Pakistan. He read law at Cambridge University and Stanford Law School and has a PhD in creative writing from the University of East Anglia. He has worked as a corporate solicitor in London and Milan, a law lecturer at a university in Karachi, an agricultural estate manager in rural Pakistan and a publicist for a luxury fashion brand in London. He has published a textbook on law with Oxford University Press. His short fiction has appeared in The New Yorker, Ninth Letter and The Southern Review. His debut novel, Other Names for Love, was published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux (US) and Harvill Secker (UK). He is the co-editor with Deepa Anappara of the anthology Letters to a Writer of Color, forthcoming from Random House (US) and Vintage (UK) in March 2023. He is currently a fellow at the Institute for Creative Writing at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
