Thomas Kennedy Lowenstein was born in New York and grew up there and outside of Boston. Tom is a writer, journalist, editor, and policy strategist. With a special interest in helping those wrongly convicted of a crime, he has worked to focus attention on inequities in the American criminal justice system. A former editor at DoubleTake magazine and Teaching Fellow in Dr. Robert Coles's class at Harvard, he has published non-fiction in the American Prospect magazine and the Philadelphia City Paper, among other places. He was a grant recipient from the Fund for Investigative Journalism in 2004 and won local press awards for his two part "Snitch Work" article (Philadelphia City Paper, June, 2004). Mr. Lowenstein now lives in New Orleans with his wife and daughter. THE GHOST DETECTIVE is his first novel. He published it under his full name because it turns out there is another writer named Tom Lowenstein, who specializes in poetry and indigenous cultures. (Who knew?)
