Tom LeClair, born in 1944, received a BA from Boston College, an MA from the University of Vermont, and a PhD from Duke University. Until 2009 he was a professor of English at the University of Cincinnati. He is the co-editor of a book of interviews with American novelists (with Larry McCaffery) entitled Anything Can Happen. He is the author of three critical studies of contemporary American fiction--In the Loop (about Don DeLillo), The Art of Excess, and What to Read (and Not)--and a collection of essays entitled Harpooning Donald Trump. He has published the following novels: Passing Off, Well-Founded Fear, Passing On, The Liquidators, Passing Through, Lincoln's Billy, Passing Away, and Passing Again. LeClair is the author of over 200 essays and reviews of new fiction in Atlantic, The New Republic, The Nation, the New York Times Book Review, Washington Post Book World, Book Magazine, The Daily Beast, Barnes and Noble Review, American Book Review, Full Stop, Electronic Book Review, and many other periodicals.
