I was born and brought up in London and still live there. I've written poetry and picture books, short and long fiction and educational books and plays. VIKING BOY (Walker Books) has been very successful, and ANGLO-SAXON BOY (Walker Books) - the story of one boy's involvement in the Battle of Hastings - won the Historical Association's Young Quills Award in 2018. I've also written a non-fiction book about the Vikings - VIKING BOY: THE REAL STORY is a companion to VIKING BOY and is narrated by Gunnar, hero of the novel. Other recent highlights include ATTACK OF THE VIKINGS (Bloomsbury Educational), WINTER OF THE WOLVES (Bloomsbury Educational), the story of how the tale of Beowulf came to Britain, and THE BOY AND THE GLOBE (Barrington Stoke), in which a young boy meets Shakespeare and helps him at a difficult time in his life. QUEEN OF DARKNESS (Bloomsbury Educational) is my take on the Boudica story, BLACKOUT (Scholastic) is a WW2 story, and A BAD DAY FOR JAYDEN (Barrington Stoke) is a contemporary story about a boy who is helped through a bad time by his teacher. Other recent titles for Barrington Stoke are DAISY AND THE UNKNOWN WARRIOR (a first world war story) and BRUNO AND RIDA (a story about a German boy refugee and the dog he encounters at the end of World War 2). I also write articles do school visits and Zoom/Teams sessions with classes. You can find me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter (@tbradman).
