Tyler R. Tichelaar, 7th generation Marquette resident, spent thousands of hours researching and writing The Marquette Trilogy: "Iron Pioneers," "The Queen City," and "Superior Heritage." He followed that popular series with six more Marquette-based novels: "Narrow Lives" (winner of the Reader Views Literary Awards for best Historical Fiction), "The Only Thing That Lasts," "Spirit of the North: a paranormal romance," "The Best Place," "When Teddy Came to Town," and Odin's Eye: A Marquette Time Travel Nove." His popular Marquette novels led to requests to write a history of Marquette, Michigan which he did with "My Marquette: Explore the Queen City of the North, Its History, People, and Places" and "Haunted Marquette: Ghost Stories from the Queen City." Branching out into scholarly works, Tyler has published "King Arthur's Children: A Study in Fiction and Tradition," "The Gothic Wanderer: From Transgression to Redemption, Gothic Literature 1794-Present," and "Vampire Grooms and Spectre Brides: The Marriage of French and British Gothic Literature, 1789-1897." A five-book historical fantasy series The Children of Arthur, beginning with "Arthur's Legacy" reflects his interest in the Arthurian Legend. Most recently, he has written the biography "Kawbawgam: The Chief, The Legend, The Man," which, along with "Odin's Eye: A Marquette Time Travel Novel," has been named a UP Notable Book. Tyler has a Ph.D. in Literature from Western Michigan University, and Bachelor and Master's Degrees from Northern Michigan University. He has lectured on writing and literature at Clemson University, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of London. Tyler is the former guest host of Authors Access Internet Radio and former President of the Upper Peninsula Publishers and Authors Association. He is the owner of his own publishing company, Marquette Fiction, and Superior Book Productions, a professional book review, editing, and proofreading service. Tyler lives in Marquette, Michigan where the roar of Lake Superior, mountains of snow, and sandstone architecture inspire his writing.
