Summary

Follow military veterans Ryan Lock and Ty Johnson as they confront a dark conspiracy in a remote college town (The Innocent), hunt down a cult group snatching young women from the streets of Los Angeles (Fire Point), broker a kidnap exchange in Budapest (Budapest/48), and help a desperate father save his only child from an abusive school for teens (The Edge of Alone).

Hours of action-packed, heart-pounding suspense.

"This series is ace. There are deservedly strong Lee Child comparisons as the author is also a Brit, his novels US-based, his character appealing, and his publisher the same." (Sarah Broadhurst, bookseller)

"This is a writer, and a hero, to watch." (Geoffrey Wansell, Daily Mail)

"Black’s style is supremely slick." (Jeremy Jehu, Daily Telegraph)

"The pace of Lee Child, and the heart of Harlan Coben." (Joseph Finder, New York Times best-selling author of Paranoia, Buried Secrets)

"The heir apparent to Lee Child." (Ken Bruen, internationally best-selling author of The Guards)

"Ryan Lock is a protagonist tough enough to take on the Jacks of this world (that’s Bauer and Reacher)." (Russel McLean, author)

Get a different narrator

Terribly read, good story but the guy reading it is horrific! Give this a swerve

A bargain 4 story pack... with one big flaw

So getting 4 stories for the price of 1 is fantastic value. The Sean Black stories are very much holiday books. Fast action. Interesting protagonists. They are not overly complicated but I have never felt disappointed with the story. Sadly in audio book form the narrators accent changes are just wrong. Ty, a big former marine sounds like a henchman from old western movies whilst Ryan Lock, the main protagonist, has been labelled with a voice that sounds like a Scooby Doo cartoon. High pitched and whiney.

Story 3. Was a bit lame/predictable but otherwise great

No problem with the reader at all. I loved it. Take time to immerse yourself in the story. I had trouble putting this down/ switching off.

Set the narration speed to 1.5......

It's a classic Sean Black stories. Enjoyable due to the characters. However, I agree with many of the earlier reviews, it is let down by the narrator. The voices he tries to do are extremely similar and I had to change the speed of his reading, he really needs to practice his delivery, different character voices (as proven by his many mistakes in the delivery of the characters). It's such a shame, as it truly lets the author down.
