About this listen

Esme Posorsky is an enigma. For as long as people can remember, she has been part of community life in the quaint Cornish fishing village of Tremarnock, but does anyone really know her? She is usually to be found working in her pottery studio or at home with her beloved cat, Rasputin. But when an old school friend turns up with a secret from the past, nothing will ever be the same again.

Meanwhile teenager Rosie is excited to find a bottle washed up on Tremarnock beach with a message from a former German prisoner of war. While the rest of the village is up in arms about a new housing development, she sets out to find him. Little does she know, however, that her discovery will unleash a shocking chain of events that threatens to blow her family apart.

Tremarnock may look like a cosy backwater, but some of its residents are about to come face to face with tough decisions and cold reality....

end of chapter 17 missing

I enjoy this book , revisiting characters from previous book . sadly vital part of the story is missing. chapter 17 has the end section missing and the story jumps to the next chapter.

Good Book but missing an essential chapter...

Audible should check this book as it's missing a key chapter at the end of the book.

If you live in Cornwall your ears will bleed!!

Really got excited to listen to the next instalment in this series but nearly gave up within the first chapters!! Not because of the story it’s great to catch up with the characters but with the appalling pronunciation of simple Cornish place names such as Lelant, Falmouth and Marazion!!!

Please please please use narrators who can pronounce such simple place names correctly so those of us who live here aren’t sent screaming every time they are uttered incorrectly and our experiences ruined!!

So disappointed in this audio experience but had no choice but to put up with the narrator’s ignorance to listen to the story ☹️ Such a shame 😞

Tediously slow, in parts

You can guess what was going to happen, way back, and the ending was so disappointing, it felt like the author was so fed up with the story, by the end, that it was going along , then suddenly I heard “the end “”What !!! Yet I have listened to other stories by Emma, and was not disappointed !!

Something missing...

This book literally did have something missing - the last 14 minutes of chapter 17.
It also missed the charm of the previous books in the series, which I have really enjoyed. This one seemed a little contrived.
I managed to follow the story quite easily without the missing 14 minutes. This in itself is rather telling.
Max’s accent was also rather patchy; at times he appeared to be French, rather than German.
All in all, a somewhat disappointing listen.

Very nicely read. An apt voice for the story.

A well written pleasant story with a few little separate themes. Narrator was easy on the ear and gentle to listen to.

Very enjoyable

I have listened to all of the Tremarnock series and was not disappointed with this one. I particularly liked the Esme story line and felt it was covered in a respectful and endearing way. Once again, a good story, familiar characters and excellent narration. I await the next one with pleasurable anticipation.....
