Where is Jennifer Ikeda?
Why would you bring in a new narrator for the final book of this series after all the characters and the rhythm are established? The jolt is harsh. Jennifer Ikeda is fabulous and I am entirely disappointed with the change. Poor decision.

I love this book , but bad move changing narrator
The thing I love about the audio books is how invested you get in the voices, emotive ways they speak etc. To change the voice in the final book... it caused me to loose all dedication to the characters. I tried but couldn't finish. I now won't buy one if the voice changed during any series. bad move :(

thank goodness it's over
The only thing that saved this book from getting one star was the final battle.
I never want to hear the following words again:
cleave
sheath
my mate
vulgar gesture
and the miss pronunciation of the words shone(shawn not shoohn) and foyer(foy-yay not Foyher)
If book two grated my nerves book three had me shouting at it every time I heard 'my mate', everytime Feyre spoke, thought or gazed in awe, every damn time she compared Rhysand to Tamlyn, at every vulgar gesture, at every snide petty shitty inappropriate comment the author thought was funny.
Spoiler alert: they weren't.
I just don't understand how this long-ass, wordy, ridiculous book wasn't edited to within an inch of it's life? Half the descriptions weren't needed, there was SO MUCH repetition and the sex scenes were...I can't even. I'm so glad it's over.
I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually wouldn't mind reading Nesta and Cassians story. It must be some kind of Stockholm syndrome for books I'm suffering from. Send help...

Good job by the narrator
I was really worried that the change of narrator after the second book would be really difficult to get used to and ruin the story, but I didn't find it a problem at all. Mainly down to the narrator's skill I suspect, as I felt the intonation she used throughout echoed the narration of the first two books, which helped massively. It felt like a pretty seamless change to me.

More romance/sex fantasy than sci-fantasy
I've really enjoyed many audiobooks from this author but this trilogy as become incresingly frustrating by padding it out with constant sex scenes. Now I don't mind the occasional one but with every book it's become more & more until I got to the point where it seems it's all the main characters do, (even before & after horrendous battles), that it's become irritating, spoilt the story with lazy, repetitive writing that had me fast forwarding through it. Sad that such a good authour & story was ultimately spoilt by this. I'd rather it was 2hrs shorter & left out 90% of those scenes so I could enjoy the story.
I'd also say it's therefore not suitable for younger readers.

Not as good as the other books in series, made worse by terrible narrator
SJM looks to have lost stamina in writing this book. The other two started strong but this book is full of terrible filler dialogue that meanders and you lose interest in between plot progression chapters. All of this would’ve been tolerable if a there was a half decent narrator.
She intonates incorrectly most of the time, losing the meaning of what the characters are saying. All characters sounds exactly the same so you often have no idea who is talking. She makes everyone sound like a moody teenager with her added “umms” and “ahhs”. She really spoiled the book.

The narrator ruined it for me.
I tried, I really did. I’m 2/3 of the way through the book. I’m half listening. The story is not the same, the characters are not the same, it’s ruined. Missing Jennifer Ikeda I don’t know if the writing changed or if all of it is due to the new narrator. I wish I wouldn’t have wasted the credit and read it on kindle with Jennifer’s voice in my head. It’s really upsetting that the new narrator didn’t listen to Jennifer Ikeda and pick up on the nuances that make these characters. She completely changed the way that they act by inflicting too much too often. It’s like listening to my bonus daughter watching Barbie but with shitty sex scenes.

I had mixed feelings
A court of Wings and Ruin is book 3 of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series.
After absolutely loving book 2, A Court of Mist and Fury, I started A Court of Wings and Ruin within minutes of finishing the other.
Some random thoughts, in no particular order:
Probably because I read the books back to back, I was able to notice some continuity issues that I wouldn't have otherwise noticed. But there were several instances when things just didn't seem to flow correctly with either a plot line or a characters' behavior. Also, one thing that continued to bother me through this book and the prior book was the time references not adding up or making sense. For people who are centuries or in some cases millennia old, a year or two or even ten or fifty years is really not that long of a time frame. Sure it sucks for something bad to have happened for any extended time period, but in the grand scheme of things, it isn't that long. Freshly coming off of a 50 year nightmare is understandable for them to still be upset and processing, but what about those things that happened 500 years ago that are still a central issue of pain and despair? That doesn't make sense. A lot of "childhood" things should be able to be left in the past by then.
This book had a lot of filler. I caught myself skimming a few times.
Amren was very different in book 3 than she was in book 2. I know it was to setup a specific storyline for her in this book, but the character departure was a bit too extreme. She went from a solid, badass, protective, and dependable 2nd to Rhys to being a rude shut in who couldn't do anything or see anything beyond her project of deciphering the book.
Mor has a "big" secret that she has kept from the group/family for centuries but finally confided in Feyre. Yet the secret isn't really a big deal and her group would totally understand and be fine with it. Yet by keeping the secret and not opening up about it, she is causing actual harm to one of the others. And this group considers each other to be a family. Totally not cool and it really just didn't fit or make sense for her to do that. If nothing else, she should had told Azriel. But the fact that she felt she couldn't tell any of them did not make sense.
I hated Nesta. Like a lot. I couldn't stand her. The fact that she was a central character throughout, just didn't do it for me. Besides, I wasn't really a big fan of Elain and Nesta being changed by the cauldron or that being the direction the story went. Then sweet Elain took her heartbreak of her not being able to get married to that jerk a bit too far and it annoyed me. Get over yourselves because the world as you know it is pretty much about to come to an end and your sister, her mate, and their family are all putting their lives on the line to save you ungrateful brats and the humans.
I loved Azriel and Cassian and Rhys and Feyre. I liked seeing all of the monster/god type characters that were brought in. They were cool. I was so upset about what happened with the Suriel. I loved what happened with the Weaver and Ianthe.
Overall, I love their little family. A family you choose is often better than the family you are born into. Their friendship, love, loyalty, and respect, is EVERYTHING. I adore them all. By the end, I was even tolerating Nesta and Elain.
I have enjoyed this series up until now but as this book pretty much wrapped up the big conflict and war, I do not feel a pressing need to continue to the next book. I think I am good to end here and move on. Maybe I will read the next book sometime but my attention is straying in other directions. Besides, ending here allows me to dream up what happens with the characters from here.
Audible:I added the whispersync audible narration to this kindle book. The narrator was fine. She was easy to listen to and understand but I didn't really care for her voices. I think reading this one is probably more rewarding.

I contacted Recorded books Inc. and they said via email that Jennifer Ikeda decline to continue with the series. :(
I don't like the new narrator, but we may have no choice to get used to her.

Mixed review
I returned the book Bc of the voice narration but I later repurchased it and was able to deal with it.
It was a good book but entirely too long for what the ending ended up being. I feel like the beginning and middle were sooooooo drawn out but the end was quickly wrapped up with so many questions unanswered. I'm assuming that many many story lines weren't tied up or answered Bc there is another book coming out....?
I wish they worked on the ending more and honestly I've become more interested in the other characters than the main ones lol. If there is a another book in the series I look forward to more development in some characters

Loved it, despite new narrator (give her a chance)
I'll admit, I had a difficult time getting into this one (but loved it none-the-less). The new narration was just so different from Jennifer Ikeda -- for Feyre and Rhysand particularly. However, about a quarter of the way through, I was over it and just enjoying the story itself. Cobb did a really amazing job with the thrilling last half of the book in particular. Knowing that we have some character-focused novellas and novels coming up in the series, I know she'll do a great job with them (she nailed Cassian, Nesta, Amren, and Mor, I thought). looking forward to more Maas books narrated by Cobb (or Ikeda should she come back to the series). The fandom should definitely not fear this one. It's a great listen!

Narrator Change Didn't Ruin It
I loved the first two books in the series and was looking forward to this one when I noticed that the narrator was different. I generally hate when there is a narrator change in a series told from the same perspective, especially if you are binge listening. It tends to be so distracting that it can ruin it. Luckily this narrator sounded almost identical to the previous one and did an equally excellent job. I might not have even known they were different narrators. That being said, it was a great end to a great series, well worth the listen!

Not that bad!!
After seeing these reviews, I was really scared to listen to this. I loved the first 2 books SO MUCH! Jennifer Ikeda ruled. Why the switch!? I wish she had kept going, and I don't know why they chose someone new, but honestly? Once I got over being pissed off, it wasn't that bad! I mean, Amanda is no Jennifer, but I think she did her best. The characters were good. Lucien's brothers were fantastically evil. I just miss the overall tone of Jennifer as Feyre. I felt like I got to know her, and now it was like a completely different person.
And since this book is over 25 hours long, how were people writing reviews THE FIRST DAY IT CAME OUT!? I don't think half those people even gave the new narrator a chance. They couldn't have had the time to listen to it. So. I admit, it took a while for her to find her stride, I think, but once I got past my initial shock and dismay, and I started listening to the story itself? I was still interested, and I was still moved.
Chapter 44 - with all the high lords? And that scene with the cliff? Oh - and Lord Grayson scene with Elaine???? Come on. It was good. Admit it. Of course, you have to listen that far.
It probably sucks to step into such a popular series, so I say job well done -- even if I wish Jennifer was still doing it....

Narration was just as good as the others
Many complaints about a new narrator... I couldn't even tell. As expected, the book was very good.

Good Ending to Story
The story took a lot to build up, but it was Okay. It took awhile to get to the final war. Author uses the word purred too often. It did get to the point of annoying. This book builds more depth in other characters; however, it didn't feel like other characters act like 500 year old fairies or creatures at times. The whole mate thing seems a bit silly, which led to a section that could cut out entirely. The story did have a lot really good action scenes, which few people mentioned in their review. 2nd half is more interesting than first. This story isn't the Lord of Ring good. Some of characters lack depth and are too predictable. The story plot follows the typical good guys fighting the bad guys. There was a lot focus on cheesy romanace that isn't exciting unless you are into that. The story had so much potential to be much more and become more complex with the war, creatures, and different rulers who would have different interests and motives. It does have some of that, but author doesn't go in much depth in that regard.
