More Lumley on Audible please
This is another excellent Lumley short collection, I think this is the third, but it's a good one and Josua Saxon is a great narrator for this collection, almost perfect throughout.
I'd recommend this to all Lumley fans, although be aware that does not mean ''Necroscope'' fans, I mean real Lumley fans.
I particularly enjoyed ''The Strange Years''' as it reflects perfectly the way I often feel how Gaia might respond to the human blight. "The Kiss of the Lamia", "The Thief Immortal", "Uzzi, Haggopian" and "The Picknickers" were also marvellous. There were only two that I did not care for at all and one of them, sadly, was the very first "What Dark God?", I did not feel that it was the best start to the book, but I did feel that "The House of the Temple" was a good ending. Which will be your favourites?
This is a good mix of stories, none of which are about Vampires as you might expect them, so be warned there, this is more Cthulhu Mythos than Vampire Lestat (and there are very definitely no sparkly vampires here).
I was lucky enough to receive my copy free of charge and am delighted to leave this unbiased and honest review (I admit though, to having been a Brian Lumley fan for decades).

Vampire Anthology
Vampires stories, but Brian Lumley style so you know they won't sparkle! His style is more Cthulu than the usual typical vampire trope, so read on for a selection of dark and twisted tales!

One of Lumley's Best Short Story Collections
Wow! I'm a big fan of Brian Lumley, so I know how good he can be. I've read nearly all of his novels and short story collections and this definitely has to be up there with the best of his work. There are a wide range of stories featuring many different types of vampires, not just the classic interpretation we've all seen many times before.
I enjoyed every tale, with Uzzi and Kiss of the Lamia (featuring Lumley's epic barbarian character Tarra Khash) being my favourites.
Joshua Saxon's narration is faultless throughout. It's impressive how he manages to alter his tone to fit the requirements of the varied stories. Some are dark and menacing, while others are less formal with a lighter feel. The use of vocal effects for two evil characters in two of the tales is also extremely effective.
This is a great place to start for someone who wants to check out Lumley for the first time. If I could give it six stars I would.
Excellent!

Terrifyingly good!
This was such a different book. It was made up of short stories. I was expecting Vampires - as in the title of the book. However these were dark and twisted tales!!! Some were VERY dark. I wouldn't say they were vampires - nothing like the bog standard vampire!!!!! I listen to books at night, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND LISTENING TO THIS BOOK AT NIGHT!! It is a mixture of horror, fantasy and intrigue. It was very well written. Nothing at all like I was expecting and nothing at all like any other book I have ever read! The narration on this book was superb. Joshua Saxon adapted his voice to the point I actually thought there were two or three narrators!! A terrifyingly good book!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I have provided this voluntary review.
