About this listen
Brian Lumley, author of the best-selling Necroscope and Vampire World series of novels, has for many years been a devotee of H. P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. By such nightmare fables as Dagon, The Call of Cthulhu The Shadow Over Innsmouth, Lovecraft’s legendary Deep Ones have taken their place in terror fiction alongside the vampire and the werewolf. Now they are given the Lumley treatment in—Return of the Deep Ones!
But the Mythos was not restricted to tales of oceanic horror; nightmares out of space and time—and inner earth—abound in Lovecraft’s fiction. Thus, with the addition of Beneath the Moors, Inception, and the novella, Lord of the Worms, Brian Lumley offers his latest homage to Lovecraft the Master.
Now, from forbidden depths of dream and ocean, the Return of the Deep Ones!
In the field of no-holds-barred terror fiction, there’s Brian Lumley—and then there’s the rest.…

a fishy tale and well told.
as a lifelong enthusiast of H P Lovecraft's totally unique and weird tales I consider this to be one of the few Cuthulu mythos stories to worthily add an extra nacreous layer of chills to the extraordinary Shadow over Innsmouth.

Brian Lumley and Josh Saxon is an excellent duo
Given that you are here I take it you know and is interested with the Cthulhu mythos. Mr Lumley is a master in horror and the Return of the deep ones is simply excellent. I read the book before finding this but it’s actually even better as an audio book when Josh Saxon does the reading. His guttural voice really brings the horrors to life.

Another Superb Lumley/Saxon Collaboration
Return of the Deep Ones is another fantastic collection of Cthulhu Mythos tales written by horror grandmaster Brian Lumley. Some of these stories are available in other audiobooks, so it's worth checking out the contents before picking this up. This collection is perfect for those new to Lumley's take on the mythos and established fans.
Lord of the Worms is one of Lumley's best stories, but Beneath the Moors and Return of the Deep Ones are both top-level horror tales, too.
Joshua Saxon is once again perfect for these stories. His delivery is faultless. I know I'll definitely return to these expertly told stories in the future.
Highly recommended.

12 1/2 hours has never gone by so fast!
Yet more great Mythos stories that suck me right into their murky depths. Stories are great, and Saxon's performance is spot on and embodies the characters and Lumley's writing style so well.
Only problem- I already have 'The Taint' collection, which also features the story 'Lord Of The Worms'. Would be nice if there was a story listing included in the description as I'd probably have opted for another one of his collections.
