About this listen
It's always been Mimi Rousseau's dream to open her own bistro, but it seems beyond her grasp since she's been chased back home to Nouvelle Vie in Napa Valley by her late husband's tremendous debt. Until her best friend Jorianne James introduces her to entrepreneur Bryan Baker who invests in promising prospects. Now, working the bistro and inn until she's able to pay it off and call it her own, Mimi is throwing the inn's first wedding ever.
The wedding will be the talk of the town, as famous talk show host Angelica Barrington, daughter of Bryan's half-brother, Edison, has chosen the inn as her perfect venue. Anxious, Mimi is sure things are going to turn south, especially when Edison gets drunk and rowdy at the out-of-towners' dinner, but by the evening, things begin to look up again. That is until 6:00 a.m. rolls around, and Bryan is found dead at the bistro with an éclair stuffed in his mouth. And the fingers point at Mimi, whose entire loan is forgiven in Bryan's will.
Now it's up to Mimi to clear her name and get to the bottom of things before the killer turns up the heat again in A Deadly Éclair, the scrumptious series debut by Agatha Award-winning author Daryl Wood Gerber.

Very amusing and interesting
This is a really well written story, Suzanne Elise Freeman kept the interest flowing as she expertly leads readers through the dialogue. In his story Daryl Wood Gerber introduces a lot of different characters and I wished, at times, that I had a board like Mimi- the main character- to keep a list of details for the investigation! However, as the storyline progresses, the author, cleverly intertwines lots of information and clues which help you play detective, along with Mimi! As the secrets and lies unfold, the reader ends up with a wonderful sense of hope and satisfaction, loved this story.

lovely enjoyable book
As I am used to English voices it took me a little time to get used to the narrator especially the way she pronounced herb. It did not spoil the story and it wasn't long before I was hooked. I loved the way the storyline was put together the characters and the descriptive was wonderful. The descriptions of the wine and food especially left me feeling hungry and wanting too taste. This is a lovely murder and mystery and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Once I got used to her voice the narrator did a lovely job of telling the story.

ok to go to sleep to
I find this book very slow going and unnecessarily padded out with quotes and explanations of dishes and how to pronounce them which seem to be lifted from either cook books or Wikipedia.
The story is ok, not much really happens to hold my interest.
I carried on listening because it's included in the plus catalogue and I only listen to it to fall asleep so I don't mind too much, I won't be going on to listen to any more from this author though unless they are included too and I'm needing another bedtime story
