Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The hilarious and heartfelt new autobiography from the national treasure Sir David Jason.

In celebration of Sir David Jason’s 80th year, A Del of a Life: Lessons I've Learned relives Jason’s extraordinary life and career from more than 50 years in entertainment. From a trainee electrician to one of Britain’s most revered and loved actors, Jason shares heartfelt and hilarious wisdom with listeners on subjects ranging from family to work, resilience to ebullience. Told with his characteristic warmth and wit, Jason shines a wonderful new light on the characters and shows that fans have come to love him for, from Del Boy to Granville, Larkin to Frost.

In my first two books, I enjoyed sharing my life with the great British public, and I was overwhelmed by their support and kindness. In my new book, A Del of a Life, I am delighted to share with readers some of the hard-won lessons I’ve learned along the way - how to dream big, how to work hard, and how not to fall through the gap in the pub bar....

A nice read, shame it was not all read by David.

A nice read, shame it was not all read by David. It had a few interesting facts about his work life.

An absolute legend

I was disappointed to read that the book isn't read by its author although it was a pleasant surprise that you are honored with his dulcet tones the opening chapter. I can only assume there is reason behind why a stand in takes the reins that being you would only hear Delboys voice, which considering David's varied accomplishments (I never realised he was the voice of Count Duckula!!) wouldn't be so cushty. The book does of course dedicate a large proportion to Only Fools . And read rightly so, what a show, (they don't make em like that anymore)
Another 'David' we should wrap up in cotton wool.
He is a national treasure x

Brilliant

Well where do I start ...it was such a good listen & very funny, from choking on his seed to being a very hard working man, starting off as an electrician & love the way he’s so humble & spoke well of everyone in his path & not a bad word ...positive though & though & how he loved Ronnie Barker ...keep up the fight & never give up ...wish him well in everything he does ...in my childhood & now in my future x

Lovely charming listen

This starts off being read by David.. which is utterly charming.

From chapter 2 it is being read by a very talented reader.. but I would always prefer it being read by the author.

That’s my only criticism

kushti

As wonderfully entertaining as the man himself, and narrated by Michael FentonStevens who sounds so like David Jason that I forgot it wasn't him! A pure joy of a book.
