About this listen
"A page-turning cozy mystery with lovable characters, a quirky small town, an ice cream-loving sleuth, and a super cute dog!"
Newspaper reporter Deanna Devlin finally gets a promotion from writing puff pieces to covering more serious stories. Unfortunately, her next assignment hits a little too close to home when one of her friends is accused of murdering a local book store owner.
Deanna knows her friend couldn't have committed the crime, but the only way to prove it to the police is to find the real killer herself. There are no shortage of suspects in the case, including a tarot-card loving mistress, a jaded wife, a sleazy land developer, and a sassy mother-in-law.
With the clock ticking, Deanna scrambles to uncover the truth before it's too late.

A novel novel
I enjoyed this book, it filled in a few hours with a nice little mystery. It had a few possible suspects to keep you guessing until the end. I would have liked to see Deanne's gran playing a bigger roller in the helping to solve the murder, as she is such a fun character. A smartphone carrying Grandma, with attitude lots of fun.
When Deanne's friend is fired from her job and the boss then ends up dead Deanne steps up to investigate before her friend is arrested. Deanne joins together with her policeman boyfriend to question a number of suspects including the man's wife, his girlfriend and his mother in law. This all goes to prove you should never judge a book by its cover.
I really liked this reader and found her pleasant to listen to.

Cozy mystery
Format: audiobook
Narrator: enjoyable to listen to.
This book was very much like the first one. Another one of Deanna Devlin’s friends becomes the prime suspect in a murder and again she is instrumental in solving the case, this time tho it’s along side her detective boyfriend.
I found this one a little more interesting than the first book probably because I found the narrator to be a better fit for the story.
A cosy coffee break read/listen.
