About this listen
A seed is sown. A story is born. One thread, one needle: the story is sewn.
Top of the Pops, December 1988. The world sat up as a young woman made her debut: gold bra, gold bomber jacket, and proudly, gloriously, seven months pregnant. This was no ordinary artist. This was Neneh Cherry.
But navigating fame and family wasn't always simple. In this beautiful and deeply personal memoir, Cherry remembers the collaborations, the highs and lows, the friendships and loves and the addictions and traumas that have shaped her as a woman and an artist. At the heart of it, always, is family: the extraordinary three generations of artists and musicians that are her inheritance and her legacy.
A Thousand Threads is a kaleidoscopic story. It celebrates the power of love and family and the joys of creative communities. Above all, it is a call to arms: to own your journey and always take a stance.

One of the best books I have ever read
A riveting and intimate story delivered poetically. Neneh narrates a story full of creativity, iconic stars and adversity. Having listened to a lot of audiobook I would say her tone and delivery was exceptional and the story gripping. A really enjoyable, inspiring and sometimes harrowing story.

Melodic voice, Touching Story
This was a beautiful story. Having been a fan in my teen years, inspired by Raw like Sushi album.. it was lovely to hear the story of Nenehs life and musical journey.
Incredible journey but like most lives it’s been real. Thanks for sharing I loved it!

Beautiful, full of compassion and lives lived full
I enjoyed listening to Neneh Cherry reading her autobiography.
It was full of heart, compassion, life, happiness and sorrow.
I cried a lot. I related to some things, I felt moved, intrigued and looked forward to each listen.
Neneh is an inspirational warrior.

the river of accents
loved it all...from all perspectives...intimate poetic and honest with tributaries of Codified, accumulated natural accents that transport you betwixt the zones of geographical narration.

So many good things at once
In a good way, this book was an emotional rollercoaster, Cherry allows herself to be vulnerable, recounting all kinds of stories: happy; sad; funny; insightful…
The book is also somewhat educational as she narrates her life. A really good read, thoroughly recommend it.
