Summary

From the twelve-million copy bestselling author of the Lewis trilogy comes a chilling new mystery set in the isolated Scottish Highlands.

A tomb of ice

A young meteorologist checking a mountain top weather station in Kinlochleven discovers the body of a missing man entombed in ice.

A dying detective

Cameron Brodie, a Glasgow detective, sets out on a hazardous journey to the isolated and ice-bound village. He has his own reasons for wanting to investigate a murder case so far from his beat.

An agonizing reckoning

Brodie must face up to the ghosts of his past and to a killer determined to bury forever the chilling secret that his investigation threatens to expose.

Set against a backdrop of a frighteningly plausible near-future, A Winter Grave is Peter May at his best.

Detective story set in 2051

...with flashbacks to 2040 and 2023.
Not a "post apocalyptic" world, but Scotland 30 years into the future where much of what we can foresee now has come to pass. An independent Scotland, where they now have only electric vehicles, global warming, severe weather. Plus they still have murders, government scandals, nuclear power stations and nuclear waste.
The story centres around DI Cameron Brodie, and his own personal and family issues as he goes about investigating the case of a dead body found half-way up a local mountain in the snow.
A regular detective novel set 30 years in the future is an imaginative idea for a book. That sets it apart from anything I have read recently, Books were starting to get a bit "samey. This one wasn't.
Good Scottish narration by Peter Forbes.

Excellent book

Really enjoyed the story from start to finish.
As with the other books by Peter May the characters are interesting and you care about them from early on. Enjoyed the narration by Peter Forbes as with previous books would recommend.

Well written, well read. I have do e nothing but listen to this audio book in the past 24 hours. Peter May’s books are definitely at their best when set in Scotland and this one is particularly gripping!

Another good story

Another great Peter May story . Loved it and the narration was good. Had to make excuses to sit and listen as I was carried along in the story line.
