About this listen

Carter Lenox has two regrets: hesitating on a mission in Afghanistan with disastrous consequences, and pushing away Delaney Walker. When he gets word the love of his life is in trouble and she needs him more than ever, the decision to go home is an easy one.

Delaney Walker has loved Carter since they were children. She’s waited for him between missions, hoping he’d eventually open his heart and they could be together. But when she suffers a devastating loss, one she must keep a secret, Delaney decides it’s time to stop waiting for her SEAL and move on.

With the threat closing in, Delaney has no choice but to turn to Carter. If she can find the courage to trust Carter’s promises and share her secret, their future will be full of the life and love they’ve always wanted. If not, Delaney may not only lose her first love but her life.

Fun

I loved the book, but my God! It was infuriating at times, listening to how naive Delaney was. And it wasn't the first time she was told to be careful but would she listen?Nope! You'd think that a girl who was brought up by and around former military would have some self preservation instincts. I love Riley's books, but Delaney is a character that I did not enjoy at all.

*sigh* I’m a melted puddle

I adore this series but these final 3 books are my all time favourites (though I think I say that about most of Riley Edwards books to be honest.

Narrated with such depth of emotion, that captures the sadness and devastation that underpins this book as well as portraying two people so deeply in love trying to navigate their way back to each other.

Amongst this, drama and suspense of course as well as the wider group of characters we know and love.

Devon Grace represented Delaney so well here, showing not only her inner pain but also her strength, determination and acknowledgment of her fears.

Troy Duran (as always!) did an amazing job with Carter, such an alpha character yet able to show such painful emotions too.

An amazing read and a more amazing listen for me. Highly recommend.

After the ending I’m also super eager to hear Brice and Quinn get their story brought to life too.
