The ACA Fellowship Text (commonly referred to as the Big Red Book or BRB) is a meeting book, steps book, traditions book, workbook, and group guide. The ACA Fellowship Text was anonymously written by ACA members and provides guidance on working the 12 -step ACA program, leading to recovery from the effects of growing up in an alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional family. ACA WSO has adapted AA's steps (with permission from AA) to address the effects of childhood trauma and neglect and offer hope to ACAs worldwide.

Answers many of your questions
The book clearly defines the structure of being born and raised in a dysfunctional family

Great book!
This book is not only for those who grew up in a homes where their caregivers we in active addiction of some sort of other. it has been a great help and I'm only a quarter the way into it. no such thing as a perfect family so I'm sure this would be a very valuable read for any person, struggling as an adult due to their childhood experiences.

A great book.
A great book but unfortunately one of the narrators nasal, monotone deliveries, had the effect of triggering me, which defeats the object really. Just bought the hardback paper version.

Hard to endure narration
A great book and great program, but the robotic voices, millions of chapters and bells makes it horrendous to listen to!!! And why isn't the index like a proper index rather than "Chapter 1" to "Chapter 764" or however many it is. it makes it impossible to navigate. Please re-record it with human voices. One of the voices sounds so fed up!!!

Life changing
I have found this core text of the Adult Children of Alcoholic and Dysfunctional Families 12 step fellowship to be life changing. Alongside going to meetings on Zoom (and face to face pre-pandemic) and working through the yellow Step Workbook with a fellow traveller this program is changing my life from the inside out. The compassion and insight into dysfunctional family upbringing and it’s effects on us as adults is so well explained, from people who have lived it. The solution of learning to share honestly in groups and learning to re-parent ourselves to a place of happiness, self-belief, humility and trust; is the program that continues to work for me where some other 12 step solutions or therapists didn’t.
We are each unique in our upbringing and recovery journey but I strongly suggest to try this program and absorb the text.
The reading performance is ok but Is not professional, because this is a book and program written and performed by recovering people for recovering people.
If you grew up with warring parents or with subtlety shaming parents, right up to alcoholic or mentally parents this could be what you are looking for. There are no quick fixes but this deep text requires courage to read and to take action on through the program.
You are worth it, try it.
For a non-12 step version try the Pete Walker book. Which is also brilliant. However in my 20+ years of experience in trying to recover from denying my traumatic childhood with addiction, co-dependence, fantasy and avoidance, it takes groups, real people and written work in order to recover and really start to find life a joy.
Good luck in recovering and finding your true self.

Terrible narrator :(
Amazing book but the lady should go for different profession I'm afraid. :(.
Other than that the book is amazing and I suggest to buy a hard copy.

It’s a workbook
This book served as an introduction to ACA so I’ll give it 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ because it’s an amazing , community that heals the world one human being at the time . And it’s all done in a humble , respectful, caring and loving manner.
The book is an audio version of the workbook to be used during the meetings and as audiobook is kind of awkward as it contains footnotes and often repeats information mentioned before. Use this book as an intro but go futher . Join one of the meetings online and find out what is really on offer ! You will be blown away

Terribly produced.
Taking into consideration this is not free, the narration is terrible, even with a blooper or two left in. The narration is wooden and anxiety producing to listen to. I am sorely disappointed the people that produced this did such a lacklustre job of it. I would not recommend this to anyone, to protect them from relapse.

Annoying Children of Androids!
Seriously, do the narration again!
It sounds like it's being read by a robot - only with less feeling. How can anything this bad carry any message of hope?
I have to return it; it's a serious insult to an important book!

Narration is appaling
It helped me get into ACA, which I’m very happy for. But the narration is really really bad.
I’m glad I used my free credit for it.
Also chapters are a bit all over the place. Would be helpful to have the actual book chapters marked or at least an index
