About this listen

Dyslexia affects one in 10 adults, yet most of the information available focuses on children and on what people can’t do (the deficit model). My work with thousands of adults with dyslexia and neuro-differences has shown me the key to success is having practical strategies for any weaknesses and an in-depth understanding of how to use your unique strengths.

This inspiring book will: 1) enable you to understand your strengths and what to do about your weaknesses, 2) give you different ways of viewing intelligence and help you realise your unique abilities, 3) give you an understanding of how the brain works and how to get the most out of your cognitive profile, 4) outline real-life case studies for a deeper understanding of how dyslexia affects people and what strategies they use to reach their full potential, 5) explain how personality differences affect how you think, lear,n and work, 6) encourage you to take action, develop your confidence, and achieve great things. I have personally narrated this book to give you a firsthand account of my experiences and insights. I hope you enjoy it.

Super Practical Valuable Book and Well narrated

I really like this book. The author is being really careful to cut out all of the fluff and get straight to the valuable nuggets of practical information. for example, I particularly like how she suggests you
disclose your dyslexia to an employer and how she just gets you to talk about your strengths first and then talk about some of your difficulties. There’s a lot of information out there about dyslexia but it’s targeted towards reading and children. Which is really important but as an adult with dyslexia the difficulties can show up and so many other small ways that trip you up and the author really helps you see so many of those difficulties and avoid them. Highly recommend this book.

Also, the narration by the author is brilliant because she really puts the depth of meaning into the tone of her voice it’s fantastic having the book narrated by the actual author it just gives you so much more understanding.

Don’t hesitate download it start listening to it if you’ve got mild to moderate dyslexia you will really find this book helpful at work.

Read this book if you want to raise the bar!

Love it! This book gives answers to lot of questions I was looking for some time. I wanted to raise the game, but frustrated with myself as I could not fit everything I wanted to do. I started question my strengths and worry on my memory. The book gives a clear awareness myself and gives tons of strategies and ideas of how to navigate through unique challenges of Dyslexia. Very much recommended.

Clearest explanation and advice on neurodivrrsity

I first got this book to try to understand dislexia and neuro-diversity so that I could support neuro-diverse people around me. The book opened my eyes to how dislexia is much more than just difficulty with spelling and how there are techniques that can be implemented to overcome these difficulties. And even though I am not diagnosed with dislexia, I found some of the tips to overcome my dismal working memory very helpful - the mind maps have been a lifesaver for my university course!
The narration for the book is clear, well paced and engaging.

Useful tips but felt a bit clinical.

I have listened to this twice now to get the info into my head. One at normal speed which I struggled with then again at a slightly slower speed which helped me a little.
The tips, strategies and suggestions are very good and I think I will be taking these away to see what works for me.

I’m sure if it was due to editing or just how it was made but The audible book felt like i was someone reading a text book at me quickly to get through it. Is was a little emotionless and monotone.

Despite this I wanted to give it another go and listened a second time while I was at work so it was in my head set and not the main focus and at a slightly lower speed.

The case studies we very interesting and eye opening but again read like a informal information sharing process instead of a personal journey.

Great work getting all the info together and putting it together. That’s no easy tasks.

I may try again to listen I want to learn more about dyslexia as a whole and learn what my strengths and weaknesses are and where I am with them.

Thank you for writing and sharing the book.
