About this listen
There are more French speakers in Africa than in France. In fact, French is an official language of many African nations and spoken in many others. Yet the French accent and phrases are somewhat different from the French spoken in France.
This course introduces children to the French of Africa. Vocabulary is targeted at words and phrases that can be put to daily use. These include greetings, questions and answers, numbers, colors, animals, places, and many other topics. This is an ideal way for your child to learn some African French, whether for an upcoming trip, improved cultural understanding, or to impress the grandparents.
African French is spoken officially in Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, the Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Gabon, Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, the Seychelles, and Togo, as well as being a lingua franca in many other countries. This is an ideal way to get started with a simple African French course. Content is divided into 28 daily sessions, followed by review material.
