About this listen

Sometimes the best love stories come in two parts.

When Felix met handsome journalist Max Travers, it was lust at first sight. It was just his luck that he then had to develop a terrible case of feelings and got his heart broken.

However, two and a half years later, he’s over all of that. His job is going well, he has good friends, and he doesn’t lack for male company. Which, of course, is when Max has to come bursting back into his life.

Felix Jackson will always be the one who got away to Max. He’s spent their time apart regretting his actions and hoping for a second chance. When an accident lands him in Felix’s less than tender care, Max is determined to grab this opportunity. The only problem is that Felix is equally determined that he doesn’t.

From bestselling author Lily Morton comes a story of missed opportunities, second chances, and two very stubborn men.

This is the third book in the Close Proximity series, but it can be listened to as a standalone.

Loved this book

I just loved Felix and Max and their snark, so funny. This book made me laugh and cry as their story developed. As usual Joel Leslie was brilliant and brought the whole thing to life. I highly recommend this book. can't wait for the next one to be translated into an audio book.

Perfect

I'd been saving this audio for when I had the time to give it the proper attention that it deserved and got through it in 2 days. I couldn't stop listening to how perfectly Joel Leslie brought Felix to life with his snappy retorts, sharp wit and vulnerable heart.
As with the book, I did actually cry more than once and was grateful for breaks because there's so much hurt between them for so long.
The ending, like the narration, was perfect

A Bit of a Heartbreaker Before the HEA

The third book in Lily Morton's Close Proximity series, After Felix is a second chance, age gap romance with a ton of steam. You can read any of these novels as standalones, and Lily Morton fans will truly enjoy this one, because there are several good scenes with characters from her other novels.

I’m going to step out on a limb here, and say straight up, that this is a bit of a heartbreaker! Second chance is one of my all time favorite genres, but gah, that was kinda rough. Something about the way we get to know Felix early on, the easy-breezy affection between these two in their initial affair, and the brutal way they end it. It just hit me.

Nevertheless, there’s plenty of clever Lily Morton banter. Loads of charming scenes of British life. And, of course, tons of wild and steamy physical romance. Everything we love about a Lily Morton romance… I guess the realness of these characters affected me harder than usual.

There’s a lovely performance by Joel Leslie in the audio version.

A Splendidly Delightful Story & Listen🎧

OMG, this book just blew me away, and I loved I loved this book so much, once I started it I could not put it down, the story did not just grab and captivate my attention the entire time but it tugged on my heartstrings too. Lily Morton is a gifted author, a master of snark and witty dialogue and her way with words is absolutely brilliant. Add that in with the amazing characters and storylines she created and you have this entertaining masterpiece of a story and if I could, I would rate it well above the allowed five star rating. I adored Felix Jackson and everything that came out of his mouth, a no filter, tells it like it is has a perfect response ready to go for any situation. A bubbling and colorful personality that can brighten anyone’s day and will definitely put a smile on your face and he did just that for Max Travers, a journalist visiting the bookstore where they first met. There was an instant attraction between them, neither were looking for love or a relationship, but they sure had some steamy hookups, hookups that happened more frequently and before Felix knew it he did what he said he never would, he developed feelings for Max. But he soon learns that Max was not upfront about everything and wound up breaking his heart. Max comes to grip and realizes how wrong he was about love, it took him a great loss to open his eyes and his heart, but it is too late, Felix hates him and is lost to him. But he soon learns that Max was not upfront about everything and wound up breaking his heart. Max comes to grips and realizes how wrong he was about love, and it took him a great loss to open his eyes and his heart, but it was too late, Felix wants nothing to do with him. Fast forward two and a half years and he gets the chance to make things right and puts together a plan to do just that. I loved how everything played out in this beautifully plotted second chance romance, the story has the perfect balance of drama, humor, heartfelt emotions and hot sexy times that are well written and done. Lily Morton, thank you for another amazing story, the laughs and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Joel Leslie is the perfect narrator to bring these characters and their story to life. He has a complete understanding of the characters he portrays, gives each a voice that suits that character’s persona to a tee, accents and all, sounding believable and just as I picture the character to sound. He is a natural talent, handling the snark and witty dialogue with ease, landing the humor effortlessly, never missing a beat. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters’ emotions and projected them into his performance and has you feeling every single one. Joel Leslie is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to, his narration takes an already brilliant story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Felix and max

I’ve always wanted to know what happened to max and felix after reading their cameos in the other books in the series. I loved reading their story and also hearing it there is something about Joel’s British accent.

funny and lovely romance x

This has all of the Morton trademarks, it's full of snark, sarcasm and fun banter, but it's also got a lot of angst, heartbreak, and sorrow. Poor Felix, he experienced a sadness, anyone would find difficult to come back from, and I've got to say that it pulled at my heart strings.

It really helped to see the start of Felix and Max's romance. Ms Morton had teased us with these two throughout the previous stories in the series, and I was desperate to find out what had happened. After I'd read the first part, I was all, 'Damn you Max! You pillock, how could you...bastard!'.

After this, the portrayal of Felix's mental state and his thoughts throughout the story, it made it easy to fall in love with him, and want everything to work out for the best. My heart definitely skipped a beat or two when things got really tough for him.

I did eventually warm to Max , the eejit, and forgave him, but my heart was definitely with Felix. I also loved the drawn out back and forth, and the beautiful slow build of new love and trust.

Joel did a fantastic job, as always, on his narration. He totally brings Lily's characters to life, and he performs snark so very very well. Loved it.

Wonderful

I saved this for when I had a long road trip, as I knew this would be the perfect companion for the journey. I've listened to quite a few audiobooks by Lily Morton and narrated by Joel Leslie by now and this certainly didn't disappoint. As ever, Joel brought the characters to life in a great way, and as I'd read the story previously this made it a new, fresh take on an already great read.

The story itself is one of second chances, Felix is quite possibly the snarkiest of Lily's characters, which is saying something because they all have a level of snark. We've briefly met Max and Felix before in other stories, but this is where they get their chance to shine, and get their HEA. I loved their journey to get that, full of sass, snark, heat and that feeling you want to just knock their heads together and tell them to just talk to each other.

After Felix

After Felix is the 3rd book in the Close Proximity trilogy by Lily Morton and ticks all the boxes you expect, with all the sassy snark and banter that we British actually communicate with believe it or not.
I love listening to Lily’s books because I think she is just so Me! Lol 😂
Anyway back to the book, what more can I say it’s another winner, winner chicken dinner for me and I just hope she and Joel continue to partner up with the audiobook’s because no one else can bring her characters alive like Mr Leslie.

Accidental Opportunity.

MM, Second Chance, Contemporary, Comedy, Romance. This is the third book in the series but can be listened to as a stand-alone with no loss of enjoyment or understanding. From their very first meeting I was laughing and the humour throughout is hysterical, there are emotional moments also and lots of steam. A fantastic story that I thoroughly enjoyed listening to and extremely well narrated by Joel Leslie. Guaranteed HEA.
